Flower Power Theme - Including our Birthday Party Planning Tips & Tricks!
We’re super excited to show you our brand-new range of cake toppers which are designed and made here in West Yorkshire and they’re perfect for any momentous birthday celebration no matter how old the birthday girl is!
Our Flower Power collection of acrylic cake toppers was inspired by the groovy 70’s. We absolutely love the combinations of muted colours used in the 1970’s and took our inspiration from the iconic floral prints of this time. We’ve mixed our favourite ‘Strawberry Milkshake’ colour with Dark Pink and Golden Yellow to create a retro and fun colour palette for this range of cake decorations. Below you'll see a moodboard with some of our inspiration for this girls birthday party theme idea.
Perfect for the ultimate flower power birthday party, our latest range includes everything from personalised name cake toppers with flowers, a classic campervan cake topper, age cupcake toppers for milestone birthdays and more cupcake toppers with ditsy flowers and peace symbols. The collection is designed so that the pieces can be used together; you could pair our personalised name cake topper with a feature topper such as the retro camper van cake topper.
Tips for Planning a kids birthday party
So if you’re planning a flower theme birthday party (or any party theme for that matter), we’ve got a few birthday party tips and tricks to take the stress out of planning so that you can ensure the day is fun and hassle free!
Pick a birthday party theme Picking a theme will make planning the day so much easier. It will make lots of the decisions for you such as colours and cake style. Ask your little one what kind of theme they’d like and do some research on Pinterest for cool party ideas.
Set a start and End Time! This is probably an obvious one if you’re having a party at a venue, but even if you’re having the birthday party at home be sure to set an end time. There’s nothing worse than having guests awkwardly hanging around when really you want them to leave!
Send some invitations This should include the basics such as location, date, time etc. You should also indicate whether or not parents should stay or leave and ask about any dietary requirements. This is also your first opportunity to share the theme for the birthday party. You can find loads of themed party invite ideas on Pinterest.
Confirm the number of guests You’ll need to know how many attendees will be at the party so you that you figure out everything else. Try and get a finalised number so that you can budget and work out what kind of party you’re planning.
Choose a location If the idea of having a party at your house causes you stress because of all that cleaning, or the garden that isn’t quite right, save yourself the hassle and book a venue. You’ll save yourself the washing up and cleaning! We think that a festival style garden party is a great option for a flower power theme birthday party.
Birthday Cake! It’s a big one, it’s the reason why we all love a birthday party!! First of all, decide if you’re making it yourself, buying from a shop or ordering from a local bakery. If you’re ordering one, you’ll need to do it a couple of months in advance as they usually get booked up! You’ll also need to decide how many servings you’d like. If you’re having separate parties for friends and family, we suggest buying a small birthday cake and a selection of cupcakes. Buy enough cupcakes for all the kids that are attending, this way you can easily send each child home with a cupcake and then save the birthday cake for adults or family party
Party Favours We can help with party favours! We have a huge range of personalised trinket type products which are perfect for sending home in party goodie bags. Our personalised gift tags are great for attaching onto the kid’s party bags. Our flower power cupcake toppers which include two different flowers and a peace symbol also double up perfectly as favours – send each child home with a cupcake and they get to keep the premium cake decoration as a memento from the day.
Entertainment You definitely need to plan what you’re going to do with all the party guests, whether it’s a magician, a bouncy castle, or a good old-fashioned pass the parcel, be sure the plan the event so that the day runs smoothly without any awkward moments.
Well now you know what you’re doing, it’s time to go and plan an amazing kids’ birthday party. Just remember that although it may seem stressful or overwhelming at the time, the whole point of the day is to have fun and make memories!
Traditions are such a great part of Christmas, and I love hearing about the unique ways that other families celebrate and the different traditions that people look forward to during the holiday season.
Tis the season for gift giving and over here at Sketch By Sam we are a big fan of a personalised gift. We know that finding the perfect gift for friends and family can be a little tricky at times, but that’s why we’re here to help and give you as much gift-giving inspiration as we can to get your Christmas shopping off to a flying start this year.
Can you believe it’s June already? I don’t know about you, but I think this year is absolutely flying by, so much so that I actually started thinking about the dreaded ‘C’ word this week and have started designing some new bits for Christmas 2024!
